Fjærland is a village in the Norwegian fjords, and this particular fjord is called the Sognefjord. It can be reached by two ferries from Bergen (or a long bus from Oslo, which was our onward journey – there is a big, modern info centre down at Bergen Harbour which will point you there and sell tickets). Fjærland is a beautiful spot, close to Fjærlandfjorden and Jostedalsbreen Glacier. You have an amazing view to the blue glacier, both from the fjord and the mountains around. If you are looking for silence, Fjærland is the right place for you! Fjaerland is a fjolksy village of about 300 people, sitting along the Sognefjord where it meets the Jostedahlsbreen glacier.
